Fitting, as we are a mere 4 months until Christmas 2015. Now that I can once again download pictures, I may as well update for posterity.
The kids and I spent Christmas in Nevada (M had to work out of town). Although I am a homebody, and there is nothing quite like Christmas in your own home, Nevada is a close second. Ohio had another freezing cold winter, and between the grey, the cold, and the 15+ snow days, I just couldn't.
But we're not in Ohio any more, and the computer issues are .... better..... so I will do my best to cobble together a few catch-up posts. I suppose it's time to get back to this blogging thing.
2015 holds major changes for us, and even if I feel like I'm only talking to myself on here, I should still record this stuff for memory, right?
I'll update about Christmas in another post, but for now I'll focus on what's going to affect our entire year: Our Move to Texas.

Knowing that our time in this area is limited, the Outer Banks has been at the top of my must-see-before-we-leave list. In September we were able to make it happen.
We left on a Saturday, right after soccer games. Daddy is always on the hunt for more pressed pennies, so we made a few unscheduled stops like this one:
We stayed the night in Richmond, then That's Ms. Amy to You...http://www.blogger.com/profile/18357451593852423745noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-882450030682346513.post-80705806416895181472014-10-10T20:54:00.000-04:002014-10-10T20:54:00.315-04:00A RevelationWe know we're moving.
It's not until next summer, but the thought always lurks in the back of my head.... "you're moving... are you ready?.... where will you live? what will you do? when will it happen? are you purging the house yet? do you really need to buy that? you'll just have to pack it....."
As you can see, I have a very ACTIVE inner monologue. And why I stopped in the first place. There was no defined reason. Life, really. You know, the same life that allows relatives to go months without talking, or random phone calls to go unreturned, or pictures to remain undusted, or to-do lists that languish for weeks.
Life.

How can my baby boy be 6 already? Who let that happen?
The morning began with a few snuggles & a selfie.
Because it was a school day, we started with presents!
That night we had Lego cake.....
And then that weekend, we headed to The City for some family fun.

January was a heck of a month.
Although our weather is normally fairly mild in the winter, Mother Nature seems determined to show us who is really in charge around here.
We've had 9 snow days in January.
9!
In a normal year, we may have one or two. We have also had many of the oh-so-frustrating two hour delay. Although I'd much rather have my children be safe & That's Ms. Amy to You...http://www.blogger.com/profile/18357451593852423745noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-882450030682346513.post-91519581944292192362014-01-10T18:43:00.000-05:002014-01-10T18:43:42.615-05:00A Few Great Things
No trip to "The City" would be complete without a stop at Costco.
Along with the 12 other things we didn't really need, I picked up some of these:
I've never tried No Slip hangers, but I am now a fan! I wish I had bought more (my local store only had a pack of 35). Not only are they no-slip, but the slim design really does cut down on space. 2013 was a good year for us.
Nothing earth-shattering happened.
We didn't win the lottery. Or swim with the sharks in Indonesia. Or complete an Ironman.
But in its own quiet way, 2013 was really good to us.
My job was renewed for another 2 years. J started kindergarten. We enjoyed a fabulous vacation in Florida. It only took me 12+ months, but I finally finished J's quilt. Although I once again thought "Why did it take me so long?!", it was all worth it in the end. It's all flannel with a handsewn binding & 'wonky crosshatch' quilting. I even napped under it last week, and it earned 2 thumbs up.

This. Is. Major.
Licensing is important because it allows the Resident the option to begin moonlighting. And because it's a kick-butt addition to a CV when you start looking for a j-o-b.

"Well, I just feel like I don't have much to say these days. Stuff either doesn't feel important enough to share, or it feels a little too important to share, ya know?"
But again, he wisely reminded me that my original blogging intention was to be sort of a family journal. When we were prepping for our trip, I brought up the idea of making special Disney shirts for the kids. To my surprise, Husband was on board with the idea, and suggested we make them for all of us.
OKAY!!
After scouring Pinterest, I decided to try out Freezer Paper Shirts. I had seen these for years, but never believed they would turn out well. Because this was going to be a family reunion, with a group of 15, proper planning was in order, and I took that idea and ran with it. We had an amazing time in Florida. November is definitely the time to visit both Orlando and Disney World. This was our 2nd trip to The Happiest Place on Earth, and we applied a few things learned from trip #1 in 2012.
First lesson: Don't go in March. Check those crowd forecasts, and believe them. We visited from the 10th-16th, and although Sunday & Monday That's Ms. Amy to You...http://www.blogger.com/profile/18357451593852423745noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-882450030682346513.post-6385316396653568442013-10-20T21:06:00.000-04:002013-10-20T21:06:38.731-04:00Body Revolution, Weeks 7 & 8Sweet Mary, how am I not done with this program yet?!
Some days that's exactly how I felt. And others.... I felt.... Accomplished. Powerful. Strong.
Workout 7 felt like the hardest workout EVER. And this is coming from someone who cursed Jillian's name throughout weeks 2, 3, and 4 of Ripped in 30. It was all circuit 1, which was essentially 12 minutes spent in plank That's Ms. Amy to You...http://www.blogger.com/profile/18357451593852423745noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-882450030682346513.post-52465138618044557602013-10-06T16:16:00.000-04:002013-10-06T16:16:09.826-04:00Body Revolution: Weeks 5 & 6You know, I have really mixed feelings about the program at this point. The upside is that it's only 30 minutes, and frankly, what else can I do in 30 minutes that leaves me feeling so accomplished? My shoulders have also never looked better. The downside is that I am TIRED. And sore all the time. Which I guess means that the program is doing something for me. I don't think it's Jillian - let's face it, she's the same no matter what.... so it must be me. I've just felt exhausted. And 8 more weeks of this feels almost overwhelming. Ugh. Let's hope this gets better.

I wasn't sure what I wanted to do next, but have been interested in Body Revolution for a while. That's what it is - it's a lull. Just like life has ups & downs, so does blogging, and after 6 and 1/2 years of blogging, it had to come sometime, right?
And honestly, I sort of hit what I'm calling "internet saturation".
Also known as "I'm over it".

The meh: It was mostly "just another day". I worked, M worked late, I didn't sleep well, and I made my own cake.
The ugh: The kids fought most of the day. There was some yelling, a few tears, and a couple of time outs.
The YES: I didn't cook, I bought new jeans, I received a number of birthday texts and emails, we had That's Ms. Amy to You...http://www.blogger.com/profile/18357451593852423745noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-882450030682346513.post-22657221766646603442013-08-06T14:04:00.002-04:002013-08-06T14:04:40.419-04:00Is This Thing On? After not posting for over a month, I guess it's time to face up to the fact that I DO still have a blog. Poor neglected blog.
