Weekend Sharing

My husband laughs at how excited I get when Friday rolls around.  Being a SAHM, I can see his point - every day is a little like the weekend for me.  I just love that I don't have to get up and whip myself into a frenzy trying to get everyone out the door on time.

I am also loving......

  • This project would be perfect for a grandparent gift or Mother's Day.
  • We are trying to make an effort to eat (be) more healthy. So of course, I can't stop thinking about this recipe.
  • Maybe Big Sis is due for a bedroom update when we make our next move.... because I am crushing on this butterfly mobile.
  • As someone who is a fan of both spray paint and re-using what you have, I LOVE this idea for a Spray Painting Tent
  • Farewell, Ms. Taylor.  You are an icon of movie star glamour, style, and excess.  I will never forget visiting your house in Beverly Hills.  It was pure Hollywood.

Weekend Sharing

Another week conquered.  Hard to believe we are nearly half-way through March, but it's true!  2011 is nearly one-quarter down.  Hoo-ray.

(image from Whisk Kid.  I am drooling!)

  • I am not much of a party go-er or throw-er, but these Party Tutorials make me want to whip up something fun and festive.
  • I'm sure you've seen the lovely Rainbow Cake by Whisk Kid, but I can't get it off my mind.  Wouldn't it be fun for St. Paddy's Day??
  • A good recipe is art, isn't it?  Now you can make your favorite recipe into art!  Toast and Sip can take your favorite recipe and turn it into a beautiful printed canvas.  I think this would be a lovely gift for a newly married couple.
  •  As someone currently battling an almost 3 year old over food, I thought this article on Not Tricking Your Kids Into Eating Well was interesting.  It reminded me of how much easier our bedtime prep goes when we make it into a game (a current favorite: James Bond, nighttime spy).
  • I love the sweet & savory of this DIY Salted Caramel Hot Chocolate.  Addictive!

Weekend Sharing

I don't know if it's because we enjoyed a weekend away, or if it's because I can see the signs of Spring, but I certainly hope that all of March passes as quickly as this week has.

  • Although we're having a bit of a thaw, winter's chill is not yet gone.  I would adore this Heated Mattress Pad to warm my freezing toes.
  • Wouldn't this Sandwich Cutter be so cute for a baby shower or kid's party?
  • I am not a fan of bright colors, but this pillow would be perfect on my sofa.
  • I am in love with the new Spring line at J Crew.  I think the dress and sandals above would be my perfect summer outfit.
  • I am dyyyyyyyying over this Chevron Dresser.  You can believe this is bookmarked on my computer and filed away in the too crowded craft folder in my brain.
  • I had to wipe away a touch of drool while reading this.  Oh, I do miss my In-n-Out!

Weekend Sharing

This week flew by!  Plans are being laid & decisions are being made & it all makes my head spin a little. Of course there's always time to share a few of the things on my mind this week.....

  • I made sugar cookies and experimented with Royal Icing.  I love how these turned out with the little hearts in the middle.  The technique is easy - just dot in the royal icing & drag a toothpick down the center to create a heart shape.  They were a hit!

  • The Saturday before the Match, I treated myself to a mani/pedi.  I had a Groupon to a nail salon I had been wanting to try anyway, and the timing was perfect.  An hour and a half of pampering, Millionaire Matchmaker, and red OPI polish on my fingers and toes.  Pure Bliss.
  • I have a silly secret.... I love Forever 21.  I don't shop for clothes there (it's waaaaaaay too overwhelming for me), but they are my go-to spot for inexpensive accessories.  I started buying Big Sis a few fun headbands and now I'm hooked on their necklaces and bracelets.  Can happiness be found for under $6?  It can at Forever 21.
  • I am not a collector of objets d'art, but I can't get this little lion off my mind.  Perfect for the Leo in your life.
  • I adore the prints in Little Brown Pen's etsy shop.  I am daydreaming about framing and hanging them in my kitchen.

Weekend Sharing

Are you ready for Valentine's Day?  I am getting there.  I still have a few goodies to pick up for my chairbackers, and some sweet treats to make this weekend.  In the meantime, here are a few fun things for you:

  • Isn't this Attic Playroom fun?  Look at the tree!
  • This Seafood Gratin looks soooo yummy for an intimate Valentine's Day dinner at home.
  • I was intrigued by this Mark Bittman opinion piece on food.
  • While I doubt I'll be watching the Grammys this weekend, come Monday morning I will surely be checking this site for all the fashion coverage.  Really, it's the best part of any awards show.
  • I am obsessing about real estate.  Move is my favorite site to get a feel for various markets.
  • The Osteopathic Residency Match is Monday.  This determines where we will go for the next 4 years.  I am a wreck.  Here's to hoping we match!!

Weekend Sharing

Hanna Andersson monster sleeper for my little monster

Are you staying warm this week?  We're trying to, but because I am so cheap (and because our last gas bill left me with chest pains), staying warm in our house means sweatshirts and socks with slippers.

Maybe this will help to keep you toasty:

  • 6pm.com is offering $2.95 shipping through 2/14.  Check back often - prices fluctuate daily.  I am seriously addicted to this site!
  • Prudent Baby is a new discovery for me.  I love their Nap Time Projects section - because that's about how much time I have for crafting.
  • I am NEVER a winner, but I do love a good giveaway!  The Kitchn is running a fab Thursday Giveaway this week featuring Williams-Sonoma goodies.  You have until 2/10 to enter.
  • I went to a super fun Recipe Book Swap Party this week, and this was the most coveted book.  Personally, I was fortunate enough to leave with a lovely guide to Hot Chocolate. I can't wait to mix up something warm & creamy to keep me toasty this weekend!
  • We spirited the family away to Pump It Up after school on Friday.  It was a great way to burn some energy after a frigid week, and watching J hurl himself down a 20 foot inflatable slide was hilarious.
  • Our local Costco has organic Hanna Andersson sleepers for $11.  I LOVE their quality, and this is an amazing price.

Weekend Sharing

Here are a few things I want to share with you:

  • We got 5" of snow last night, and while it is lovely, I woke up desperate for something summery and sweet.  Enter Blueberry Boy Bait from Smitten Kitchen.
  • Design Mom is moving her family to France for a year!  I'm so excited to watch how their adventure unfolds.
  • I am obsessed with kitchen remodels.  I LOVE the butcher block countertops used in this kitchen.  Inexpensive, and I think it looks clean and modern.
  • I am totally making this today!
  • I have been obsessing about boots.  I know, Spring is coming soon (is May soon??), but I've been thinking about thesethese, and these.  Where's my winning lottery ticket??
  • Sad stories on Young House Love, but good reminders for backing up data and keeping critical documents safe.  You just never know.
Enjoy your weekend & stay warm, wherever you are.
